Registration

  • Do I need a professional registration number to sign up?

Yes, unless you are a medical student (in which case, see below).

Woslers is a social network for doctors. As part of the registration process, you will need to provide us with identification details (such as your name an date of birth) and your professional registration number. We will then use that information to verify you as a doctor. If we are able to successfully verify you as a doctor, you will then be granted full access to Woslers.com. f you are not successful, you will be informed via email (please check your junk mail). If you are not successful and you feel this is an error, please do get in touch via our contact form and one of our team members will help you.

  • I am a medical student – can I become a member?

Yes. Medical students are welcome! If you are a medical student and would like to become a member, please let us know by filling out our contacts form and we will create an account for you. You will be asked to send us a copy of your student I.D. in order for us to verify you as a medical student.

  • Do I need to use an official email address to sign up?

We would encourage you to sign up as a member using an official email address. An example of this would be @nhs.net, @doctors.com or @[your hospital].com.

  • Can I use my personal email address to sign up?

Yes. However, as mentioned above, we would encourage you to sign up as a member using an official email address.

  • What is an @handle?

An @handle helps you easily connect with other members by ‘tagging’ other members in your posts and updates. If another member ‘tags’ you, you will get notified of this by way of a pop up in the top right hand corner of our site.

You do not need to use your first, middle or last name as your @handle – feel free to be creative! For instance, @WhatsUpDoc or @SuperDoc.

  • I have not received an activation email after completing the registration form. What should I do?

If you have not received an activation email after submitting your registration form, please check your junk folder. If an activation email is not in your junk folder, please let us know by filling out our contacts form.

  • What happens after I activate my account?

After submitting your registration form, you will be sent an activation email. You will need to click on the link in that email in order to set up your personal profile on our site. You will be able to upload a profile photo and a cover photo.

You will not have full access to our site, including the social aspects of our site, until we have verified you as a doctor or a medical student (for which process, see bullets one and two). We will notify you via email if you have been granted full access or if you have been denied full access (in which case, we will try to resolve this issue with you).

Personal Profile

  • Will my profile be visible to the public?

No. Woslers is a private social media network for the medical community. Your profile will only be visible to other members on our site.

You can update your privacy settings so that your posts are visible to you and/or your connections only, if you so choose.

  • Will my professional registration number be visible to other users?

No. Your professional registration number will only be visible to you and our admin team.

  • Can I create my own private group? Can I create a community group?

Yes. To do this, you will need to go to the side menu > groups > create group > settings and then select from the privacy options in order to create a public, private or hidden group.

  • How do I post a job?

Go to your profile drop down menu at the top right hand corner of our site > select ‘post a job’. This will allow you to create a post for your vacancy. After previewing your post, click on ‘submit listing’. This will notify us that you would like to publish your vacancy on the jobs notice board. Once approved by us, your post will be public on the jobs notice board.

  • How do I post an event?

Go to your profile drop down menu at the top right hand corner of our site > select ‘Submit an event’. You will then need to fill out the form with your events details. Once complete, click on ‘submit event’. This will notify us that you would like to publish your event on the calendar. Once approved by us, your event will be public on the shared Woslers calendar.

Social

  • What is the news feed?

The news feed reflects the activity within our site. It will display a mix of posts, including all posts that members have made ‘public’, posts which your fellow connections have shared with you and your own posts. You can choose whether your own posts are shared with ‘only you’, ‘your connections’ or ‘other members’.

  • What are groups?

Groups are specific spaces where members can interact with other members who have a shared interest. Posts in groups will be shared on the news feed if made public. You can choose to join groups in order to take part in conversations with other members in that group. You can also create groups of your own (for which, see above).

  • Can I private message other members?

Yes. Each member has a private inbox and can send and receive private messages. Select the inbox tray icon at the top right hand corner of our site to gain access to your inbox.

  • Can I search for other members?

Yes. You can search for a member by typing their name or @handle in the global search box which can be accessed by clicking the spyglass icon in the top right hand corner of our site. Alternatively, select ‘members’ from the side menu and browse our current members. The green icon next to member profile pictures indicates whether that member is online.
